Издательство PlayWay S.A. известно тем, что специализируется на выпуске симуляторов самого разного пошиба. Только сейчас в производстве находится Primitive Builder Simulator, который своим именем всё объясняет, или тот же симулятор бездомного. Однако, если спросите меня, какой проект из линейки компании на сегодняшний день самый слабый, то я отвечу: «Dieselpunk Wars».

И дело даже не в том, что мне не нравятся песочницы без какой-либо конечной цели, потому как в Besiege было проведено несколько часов не без удовольствия, как и изрядно баловства в конструкторе Crossout. Отчего страннее наблюдать выход на Kickstarter сегодняшнего гвоздя программы.

Очевидно, что PlayWay S.A. делает минимальные вложения в игру, помогая в основном по части рекламы, но выделяется она на фоне остальной продукции, словно гадкий утёнок. Дошло до того, что Вашему покорному слуге и описать Dieselpunk Wars в объёмном виде сложно.

Конструктор здесь примитивный, точек сопряжения деталей мало, а основной корпус и вовсе создаётся из больших и грубых частей, отчего любая конструкция смотрится неказисто. Сложно абстрагироваться от того, что это по сути инди, когда ранее опробовал Crossout, где точек соприкосновения деталей с одной поверхностью порой десятки.

В демоверсии также абсолютно дурацкий и непонятный баланс. Морское судно, чтобы оно не заваливалось и переворачивалось назад, пришлось сооружать в течение 15 минут, постоянно спавня его заново, и лишь потому, что сзади располагались винт с поворотным механизмом, хотя спереди уже был топливный бак, будка экипажа и двигатель.

Лётный же аппарат у меня превратился в настоящего франкенштейна, что так и не смог балансировать, несмотря на десятки дополнительных деталей по обе стороны. Думаю, Вы понимаете моё негодование, что в порыве злости я даже забыл сделать скриншот, зажав в какой-то момент Alt+F4.

С наземным транспортом дела обстоят проще, однако механика стрельбы и боя особого удовольствия не принесли. Противника нужно дырявить по паре минут, отковыривая компоненты по одному. Ясное дело, что демо на то и демо, а сама игра в разработке, однако ядро Dieselpunk Wars понятно, и особого энтузиазма оно не вызывает.

Графика скучная, неотёсанная, скудная на детали, звук напомнил времена PlayStation 1, а геймплей банально вызвал зевоту по причине низкого темпа игры. Морские корабли ходят медленно, воздушные суда неспешно взлетают и по инерции неохотно поворачивают, а наземный транспорт не желает поворачивать.

И опять же – я понимаю, что дело в физике, которую обрабатывает движок, и работает она очень подробно, что, впрочем, не отменяет факта усыпляющей скорости всего – от машин до их вооружения, импакт от которого не чувствуется вовсе. Странный проект, непонятно, для кого и зачем. Но он всё ещё на ранней стадии разработки, и чудо может случиться, если авторам в голову явятся по-настоящему интересные идеи. А пока в нём особого смысла нет, потому что Crossout и Besiege.

We like to keep you on your toes so we prepared a new update for you!

First of all, great news to everyone who struggles with English and wanted to see their game translated to their native language! We finally implemented all remaining translations for Dieselpunk Wars Prologue and now you can enjoy our game in German, French, and simplified Chinese! This brings the total of supported languages to seven, not a bad number!

In other news, we prepared a small hotfix for everyone playing Dieselpunk Wars Prologue. While this list of changes might not look as impressive as the last one, you have to take into account that we’re currently hard at work on Dieselpunk Wars’ campaign. Don’t worry, we’ll continue supporting the Prologue as well as we can and you can expect larger patches once we have more time available! Here are the patch notes:

Improvements:
– Added language support for German, French, and simplified Chinese.
– Tweaked popout background to improve readability.
– You can now update your Steam Workshop vehicles instead of having to upload new versions as separate files.

Fixes:
– Fixed the “Cut through the waves” achievement which wasn’t awarded correctly.

Finally, we have one more news for you, although you might already be aware of it – we recently sent out backer surveys to all of our Kickstarter backers! Make sure you check your emails, specifically the one connected to your Kickstarter account. Take a look at the spam folder if you don’t see the survey and contact us if it doesn’t arrive within the next few days.

Hello there, we prepared a new update for you!

Dieselpunk Wars Prologue launched last week and now everybody can give it a shot! We learned a lot from that and we would like to thank everybody who posted their feedback or Steam reviews! Thanks to your aid we now know exactly what we need to focus on before the full version of Dieselpunk Wars launches. We already started working on incorporating your feedback into both, the full game and the Prologue. As a result, we have a new patch ready for you!

Improvements:

• Added additional quick selection bars to the module panel at the bottom of the screen – you can now toggle between four separate panels and assign different parts to each of them!
• Small tweak to vehicle maneuverability, in preparation for future improvements.
• You can now rotate blocks using the keys (in addition to the mouse wheel).

Fixes:

• Added missing lines of text in the Russian translation.
• Fixed an issue where English translation would sometimes appear instead of the Russian translation.
• Camera will no longer move when you type something into the search bar in Build Mode.
• Mouse cursor should no longer display when moving the camera in Photo Mode (F11).
• Vehicles can now properly aim and fire at targets above them.

Other:

• We removed the option to change the game language from the main menu due to the numerous issues it caused. You can still set your language via the properties on Steam. Simply right-click on the game in your Steam library, select properties, go to the “Language” tab, and choose the language you want to use.

As for what else is happening in our studio – our team is now focused on finishing the campaign, balancing individual modules, and designing enemy vehicles for the player to face. It’s a lot of tedious work but it’s nothing we can’t handle! We’re also working on the behavior of enemy bosses and the way they appear in the cutscenes. We don’t want to spoil anything but we might as well show you concept art for one of the most important vehicles in the game.

Finally, you might be wondering about your backer rewards. Don’t worry, we will send you backer surveys regarding your rewards within the coming days! Some of the rewards are already worked on but we will need your input to implement the rest of them. We will also use these surveys to gather your names (or nicknames) to add to the game’s credits. So keep an eye out for any new messages you receive!
